US News today: White House on lockdown, a police car be on fire over George Floyd death

A new video capturing the moment George Floyd was detained by members of the Minneapolis Police Department appears to show multiple officers on the ground with him. The angle of the video, which is circulating on social media, has not been seen previously. The footage was filmed from the opposite side of the street from where a white officer pressed his knee onto Floyd’s neck in the Memorial Day incident. Race Forward Statement on the Killing of George Floyd

With rage and grief, Race Forward calls for justice for George Floyd—an innocent and unarmed Black man who was killed on Monday May 25, by white Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin. Video shows Chauvin pinning Floyd to the ground with his knee to Floyd’s neck for eight minutes, while Floyd repeatedly stated that he could not breathe, and that Chauvin was hurting him. Three other police officers stood by, not intervening.https://www.raceforward.org/press/statements/race-forward-statement-killing-george-floyd?utm_term=they%20all%20deserve%20justice&utm_campaign=Black%20Lives%2C%20and%20100%2C000%20COVID-19%20Related%20Deaths&utm_content=email&utm_source=Act-On+Software&utm_medium=email

The Unmattering of Black Lives

On May 20, 2015—almost five years ago to the day—the African American Policy Forum hosted #SayHerName: A Vigil in Memory of Black Women and Girls Killed by the Police, so that families from across the country could come together in a powerful show of solidarity to uplift the stories of their late loved ones. They were the family members of Alberta Spruill, Rekia Boyd, Shantel Davis, Shelly Frey, Kayla Moore, Kyam Livingston, Miriam Carey, Michelle Cusseaux, and Tanisha Anderson. We said their names.http:// https://newrepublic.com/article/157769/unmattering-black-lives
